Emporia firefighters handled a pair of small fire calls Monday.
Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says fire crews were dispatched to 414 State for a porch fire shortly before 5 pm. The fire was actually out before crews arrived with minimal damage to the porch. The cause appears to be accidental, but an exact cause has not been determined.
Crews also went out to 1401 East 12th around 8:30 pm for a reported structure fire, but Fuller says there was smoke and no fire with this incident. Firefighters found a pan on a stove had started smoking, so crews ventilated the space and returned to service.
No injuries were reported with either incident.
