Big things are ahead for Emporia Imaginarium as the business continues early work to change addresses.
Less than two months ago, Imaginarium announced plans to move out of Emporia Main Street’s incubator space and into the former Graves Drugs location. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday, co-owner Melanie Curtis says she plans to take advantage of the dramatic increase in space — and she plans to use every inch of the building.
While planning for the new space continues to develop, Curtis and co-owner Dell Jacob continue seeking funds for the move. Recently, Imaginarium was successful in gaining over $40,000 in tax credits through the Kansas Department of Commerce.
Curtis says the tax credits are available through the end of 2026, giving residents a lengthy time to help with fundraising. Imaginarium is also working to secure block grant funding, local government funding and private dollars as the process continues.
Imaginarium was named as Main Street’s second incubator business in 2022.
