Chase County deputies have arrested two Illinois residents after an incident allegedly including two vehicle pursuits.
Deputies say a vehicle fled from the Kansas Highway Patrol early Monday, with the vehicle entering Chase County around 7:30 am. Deputies and a trooper responded to US Highway 50 and the trooper tried to begin a traffic stop but the driver fled instead. Deputies used tire deflation devices twice, and the vehicle stopped after the second deployment.
The driver, 31-year-old Michael Beasley-Hart, had a felony warrant in Illinois. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted flee and elude, attempted driving while suspended, attempted interference with law enforcement, attempted identity theft, possession of marijuana and transporting an open container. The passenger, 24-year-old Jasmine Johnson, were arrested on suspicion of attempted interference with law enforcement and attempted possession of marijuana. Formal charges are pending against both people.
