In-person enrollment assistance will be available for parents of USD 253 students beginning Wednesday.
The district will have staff on hand at the Jones Early Childhood Education Center, 327 South Walnut, through the remainder of the month from 8 am to 5 pm. According to Enrollment and Migrant Student and Family Resource Specialist Patricia Saenz Reyes, a recent guest of KVOE’s USD 253 Showcase, all members of staff on hand are bilingual and capable of serving both English and non-English-speaking families.
Previously, in-person enrollment was held at Flint Hills Mall; however, some renovation work led to the change in venue to Jones, a move that Reyes believes families will “love.”
No appointment will be necessary for in-person enrollment as staff will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Also, during the USD 253 Showcase Tuesday, USD 253 Director of Community Relations Lyndel Landgren encouraged parents to download the ParentSquare app, which was adopted by the district last year. ParentSquare is a communication application that provides information and correspondence between the district and the families it serves.
Landgren says it is extremely helpful both during and enrollment and the school year itself. Landgren says the app and notification settings are completely customizable for each person.
For more information on enrollment, ParentSquare or other services through USD 253, visit the district’s website, USD253.org, or call 620-341-2396.
