Now over a month after a deadly home explosion in Emporia, details are still pending on how things unfolded.
The June 18 explosion at 1814 East Sixth killed the home’s owners, Darrell and Terry Bontrager, and leveled the house in the process although no damage was immediately reported to nearby structures. Emporia Fire has been leading the investigation with early help from the Office of Kansas State Fire Marshal.
Darrell Bontrager was a longtime postal carrier in and around Emporia, while Terry Bontrager spent nearly 20 years as an administrative assistant at KVOE. Services will be at 1 pm Saturday at Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church.
