Southeast KansasWorks and Emporia Spanish Speakers are encouraging job seekers to attend the Emporia Strongest job fair Wednesday.
This job fair follows the Emporia Strong and Emporia Stronger job fairs earlier this year, both directly connected to the closures of Tyson Foods and Holiday Resort announced in December. Southeast KansasWorks Executive Director Katie Givens says there is “absolutely” a connection to the closures and the prior job fairs.
Givens also says KansasWorks has been busy helping displaced workers this year, in part with the agency’s collaboration with the Kansas Department of Labor.
At least 15 businesses will be represented. Job seekers can meet with employers, explore opportunities in several different business sectors and get help with resumes, interview skills and what KansasWorks calls “career transitions.” Activities will be at the Humanitarian Center from 11 am to 2 pm.
