Early work on Emporia’s Southeast Transmission waterline project is closing part of a residential street that sees more traffic than many others in town.
Effective Tuesday, the city of Emporia is closing Ninth at Garfield for about two weeks as early processes continue. Drivers are asked to plan ahead and use alternate routes if possible. They are also asked to go online to emporiaks.gov/livemap to see traffic updates in real time.
Work began around Seventh between Sunnyslope and Garfield earlier this month. Eventually, there will be new 20-inch water mains, as well as service lines and other connections, from 12th and Garfield to South and Carter.
