A former Emporia FC Black Lion has moved up to the professional ranks.
It was announced Thursday morning via Emporia FC’s various social media channels that Nahuel Luna had recently been signed by Platense FC, which plays in the first division of the Honduran football system. The 29-year-old Argentinian Center wore the EFC badge during the team’s inaugural season in 2024, contributing five goals and four assists in 10 appearances.
EFC Head Coach Victor Ibarra says Luna was an “Amazing player for us that brought a lot of leadership to the younger guys.”
Founded in 1960, Platense has a long track record of success, including winning the inaugural Honduran National Football League championship in 1965. The team has also had multiple appearances in both the CONCACAF Champions’ and Winners’ Cup competitions.
The team has had some notable alumni, including Julio Cesar de Leon, who was a well-known free-kick specialist and member of the Honduran National team.
