A TV show host who allegedly featured an illegal hunt near the KVOE listening area can no longer hunt legally in the state.
The US Attorney’s Office says 35-year-old Matt Jennings, host of a hunting show called “The Game,” also received five years of probation, which means he cannot guide, hunt, trap, fish or even be with people involved in those activities while in Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. In addition, Jennings got a $10,000 fine and a $15,000 restitution order as part of his sentence.
Jennings, of Bowdon, Georgia, pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal taking of a whitetail deer in interstate commerce. The agreement reflects activity in November 2022. On Veterans Day, according to federal prosecutors, Jennings killed an antlered deer near Florence — an area where his antlered deer tag did not allow that activity — and then drove to Oklahoma to illegally register the kill using an Oklahoma electronic tag. On Nov. 19, Jennings killed an antlered deer near Wakeeney, which is allowed if it’s the first kill of an antlered deer in a season but not allowed for other such kills.
