Pioneer Bluffs highlighted the work of current and past ranchers with its annual Day of the Cowboy activities this weekend.
Activities included an ice cream social, a talk with Chase County working cowboy, artist and musician Bruce Brock and a tribute to the late Jim and Josh Hoy. Pioneer Bluffs Board President Jeff Davidson says interest in the cowboy way of life comes from all corners, and the Pioneer Bluffs mission is to give people the information they want.
Davidson says the longstanding image of the cowboy doesn’t necessarily hold true in the Flint Hills.
The next major public event at Pioneer Bluffs is its Fall Roundup on Oct. 11, with a veterinarian panel, a “best ranch stories” contest and music from Jenny Lou & the Buckaroos.
