USD 251 North Lyon County is hosting another community engagement session this week, focusing on future updates to district facilities.
The engagement session will take place on Wednesday night at Northern Heights High School. USD 251 Superintendent Bob Blair, a recent guest of KVOE’s Newsmaker 3 Monday, says much of the session will be spent in small groups where everyone will have a chance to be heard.
The engagement session follows a town hall meeting from April, where the district laid out details of recent facility assessments for both Northern Heights and North Lyon County Elementary School, dating back to the late spring and summer of 2024. District Strategic Planning Committee Chair Kylie DeDonder, who also appeared on KVOE’s Newsmaker 3, says there is a great deal of passion being shown among community members regarding the future of their schools.
She says the district hopes these ongoing engagement sessions will only further stoke that passion across the community.
While he says there has been a good response from the community in recent months, with “A lot of great conversations” taking place on the subject, Blair says there has been one challenge to the process.
The engagement session will begin with a guided tour of Northern Heights at 6 pm before the group sessions begin around 6:30 pm.
