A preliminary hearing is coming next month for an Emporia man recently accused of leading a law enforcement pursuit.
Gustavo Lopez, age 29, was set for a preliminary hearing Monday but that got moved to Aug. 19 after initial defense attorney Nickolas Velo was allowed to withdraw. Velo was replaced by Ty Wheeler.
Lopez faces eight total counts after an alleged incident July 12, including flee and elude, interference with law enforcement, aggravated child endangerment with a three-year-old in the car at the time of the alleged incident, third-offense felony driving under the influence incapable of safely driving with a child present, circumventing an ignition interlock device, improper child passenger seat restraint, unattended motor vehicle and speeding.
