Thursday night was all about shooting sports at the 2025 Lyon County Fair as the shooting sports award ceremony took center stage in the show arena.
15-year-old Sophia Hill was looking forward to the evening, as shooting sports is what led her to join 4H.
Hill says she enjoys every aspect of the activity, noting it is mentally challenging but also gratifying.
Hill placed in the top two in several categories this year, as did Michael Wendling, who says he joined 4H at the invitation of his friends and quickly fell in love with shooting sports.
Wendling says his participation in shooting sports has provided him with several opportunities he doesn’t think he’d have ever had without it.
