Pavement work has been approved on the Kansas Turnpike northeast of Emporia.
The Turnpike Authority has announced a nearly $4.4 million contract for patching and surfacing between the Emporia service exit at mile marker 132 and the Admire-Council Grove exit at lime marker 147, including paving at the Admire gate. Pearson Construction LLC of Wichita won the contract.
The tentative plan is to start patching the highway this upcoming fall and handle resurfacing work next year. Weather permitting the entire project should be done by October 2026.
