A preliminary hearing is coming next month in a Coffey County case involving charges of rape and several other alleged incidents of criminal sexual behavior against a child.
Forrest Lynn Cornine, age 32, was charged in January with 11 total counts. Seven counts are for rape allegedly involving two children between September 2017 and May 2018. There are three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, allegedly involving the same children. There is also one count of aggravated indecent liberties included.
Cornine’s prelim is Sept. 17.
Separately, 52-year-old James Komma will have his first official court appearance in Burlington on Aug. 20 on two separate counts of aggravated violations of the state’s offender registration act. Komma allegedly failed to comply on two separate occasions, once between Oct 2024 and this past April and again this past May.
Additional hearings have not been scheduled.
