With a reorganization effort underway inside the US Department of Agriculture, citizens are asked to give their feedback.
Residents can email reorganization@usda.gov with their thoughts by Aug. 26. USDA employees, members of Congress, ag and nutrition partners and the general public are encouraged to offer input.
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says this is part of a directive from President Donald Trump to “include relocation the sprawling federal bureaucracy to locations outside the National Capital Region,” including Kansas City, Missouri. The goal of this effort, Rollins says, is to right-size the agency, end unneeded management layers, end redundancy and serve the American people.
Separately, Rollins says the USDA will buy up to $230 million in fresh seafood, fruits and vegetables from ag producers to pass out to food banks and nutrition assistance programs. Rollins says USDA has already bought close to $1 billion in similar efforts this fiscal year to support what she calls the “charitable feeding network.”
