Little Lyons Childcare continues work towards its overall goal of 24-7 service for local families.
On KVOE’s Morning Show Newsmaker segment Tuesday, Ignite Emporia Director Michelle Margeson says the current work is to renovate much of the building after an initial round last year.
Margeson says there are several things that need to be handled during construction with the goal of 24-7 service in mind — starting with making sure the building meets state codes. In Little Lyons’ case, the building has essentially the same fire codes as nursing facilities.
The concept for Little Lyons followed work by Ignite Emporia to determine local business needs, and childcare access became a key point as conversations continued in general terms before the Little Lyons plan was fleshed out. Margeson says it’s rewarding to see Little Lyons at this stage.
Things have been full to nearly full since Little Lyons opened up late last summer.
