Orange cone season remains in full effect in Emporia.
The city of Emporia has several significant improvement projects underway now.
Street Resurfacing work currently involves mill and overlay on Prairie Street from Interstate 35 south to 12th as well as 12th between Lincoln and Rural. The city cautions there will be some subgrade repairs needed and construction could last up to three months.
Street Rehab, meanwhile, involves asphalt overlay on East Wilman and Walnut streets over the next two weeks.
For Concrete Street Repair, Weaver Street repairs are done but crews have several active work zones through the fall, including:
*15th from Lincoln to Lawrence
*18th Ave at East Wilman & Center St
*Intersection of South Parkway, Timmerman Drive and West Ridge Court
*Monterrey Dr/Coronado Ave intersection
*Coronado Ave at Montezuma Ct & Coronado Ct
*1700 block and part of 1800 block of Deo Oso Dr
Southeast Transmission water line installation continues with the core of work now underway near Seventh and Garfield. The project will stretch eventually to South and Carter over the next 15 months.
At Flint Hills Crossing, utility and paving work is now done for a brand-new street immediately southwest of the Flint Hills Technical College main campus, as well as a roundabout linking to Interstate 35, the Kansas Turnpike and US Highway 50, along with two other connecting roundabouts nearby. Sidewalks, striping and site cleanup are ongoing for the next two weeks. QuikTrip will start construction at a later time.
