Emporia Public Library is getting nearly $50,000 in state grant funds for a variety of projects.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says the library is getting just under $49,000 to install five solar-powered Wi-Fi benches in several community locations. Specifics aren’t final yet, but Director Pauline Stacchini says the plan is to install the benches near the Lee Beran Recreation Center, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness offices and space on Commercial Street. Other sites are to be determined.
The funds come from the state’s Advancing Digital Opportunities to Connect Kansans, or ADOPT, program. Over $10 million is being distributed across the state through the program at this time. The goal is to expand free public internet access.
