Oppressively hot conditions are ahead Friday.
Air temperatures could get to 102 by late afterrnoon, which would be our highest air temperature so far this season. Peak heat index readings could climb to 108.
Heat advisories are now up areawide from 1-8 pm Friday. Residents are encouraged to drink lots of water, wear light and loose-fitting clothing, adjust work schedules and spend as much time as possible in air conditioning.

6:40 am: Heat advisory announced for Chase, Greenwood counties Friday
Part of the KVOE listening area is under a heat alert as we approach the weekend.
Chase and Greenwood counties are in a heat advisory from 1-8 pm Friday. Air temperatures will be in the upper 90s and heat index readings could peak as high as 107.
This alert may only affect two of the seven counties in the KVOE listening area, but everybody is advised to drink lots of water, wear light and loose-fitting clothes and stay in air conditioning as much as possible. KVOE and KVOE.com will have updates.
