With ground work ongoing, QuikTrip is moving towards an official groundbreaking event this upcoming fall for its new store in west Emporia.
Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson says construction is tentatively planned to start in mid-November and finish by late summer 2026.
The convenience store will be the culminating feature of construction currently underway just southwest of the Flint Hills Technical College main campus. Since January, crews have been installing a new street leading to the area near the junction of Interstate 35 and the Kansas Turnpike, as well as building a new roundabout immediately connecting the development to the aforementioned highways and US Highway 50 a bit further south. Below-ground infrastructure to support both the QuikTrip development and potentially others nearby has also been installed.
Jefferson says the convenience store will be about 7,300 square feet and will include the full-service QT Kitchens.
