Officially, classes are now less than 10 days away for students at USD 253 Emporia.
Classes begin for part of the student body Aug. 19 with Jump Start. Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says this half-day helps new students get ready for what’s to come.
The first official day for all district students is Aug. 20. Landgren says that’s a half-day for students, but it’s a full day for teachers and staff.
Ahead of those dates? Open houses, starting later this week.
Landgren also says this year’s calendar emphasizes several early-release days sprinkled through the year as the district moves away from the longstanding late Wednesday start at Emporia Middle School and Emporia High.
