Emporia State University is about to celebrate a new NASA-connected addition to the Peterson Planetarium.
On Wednesday, Emporia State will unveil what’s called a mini-PULSE and will have information about NASA’s original PULSE program, demonstrating interstellar communication to and from Earth as part of what’s called the Deep Space Network. The mini-PULSE on display at ESU is a scaled-down replica of the full display at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, and Emporia State will be the first institution outside NASA to host a mini-PULSE display.
ESU will have a special event on campus to celebrate both the mini-PULSE display and the Peterson Planetarium’s recently-renovated exterior with a special show at 4 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Planetarium Director Mark Brown will be KVOE’s ESU Buzz guest at 8:20 am Thursday with more information.
