Emporia State University’s food pantry stands to benefit from a special event this weekend.
The third annual Car Show for Corky’s Cupboard will literally be front and center at St. Mark’s Lutheran’s Church on Sunday. Pastor Kent Happel says the car show will be on the church’s front lawn. The event is also a partnership with beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention, and Happel says stress about food or cash flow can definitely affect students. He also says times are tight for students and non-students alike.
The car show goes from 1-4 pm. Registration is on-site only and is by donation, whether through money or non-perishable food item. All vehicles are welcome.
Last year’s event generated over $200 and over 150 items for Corky’s Cupboard, which has now been operating for more than a decade and helps students offset food insecurity issues.
