Lyon County’s WIC department is getting national recognition for its work.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says Lyon County WIC has received the Gold WIC Breastfeeding Award of Excellence, meaning it has had a breastfeeding peer counselor program for at least 12 months and has met all mandated core components of the Food and Nutrition Service’s WIC Breastfeeding Model for Peer Counseling.
Lyon County is one of just two Kansas WIC agencies to receive a gold award.
