SOS operations are getting bolstered by three separate grants.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says SOS will receive over $845,000 in funds through the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault grant awards program. This money goes towards support services, outreach and training, as well as transportation options, shelter upkeep and staffing.
Also, over $90,000 is going to SOS through the Children’s Advocacy Center line item. Money here will bolster “child-sensitive” forensic interviews, advocacy and ongoing work to enhance multi-disciplinary teams.
In addition, SOS receives nearly $60,000 through the state’s Court Appointed Special Advocate line item. This will help to recruit and train CASA volunteers, who advocate in court for neglected and/or abused children and teenagers.
In total, SOS is receiving nearly $1 million for its work to help victims of sexual and domestic violence, abuse and neglect, regardless of age. More information about SOS is available online at soskansas.com.
