Emporia Police officers are asking for the public’s help as they work to identify and find two attempted robbery suspects.
Investigations Capt. Lisa Hayes says a male victim reported an attempted robbery in the 1100 block of East 12th around 1:30 am Sunday. The victim reported leaving westbound from the Phillips 66 gas station, 1201 East 12th, and getting approached by two males also on foot. The victim also reported both men tried to rob him at gunpoint.
Hayes says one suspect was described as around 5-foot 6. He was wearing a black hoodie with white letters, a black face mask and dark pants or shorts. That suspect was reportedly armed with a handgun, possibly a Glock model.
The second suspect was described as about 5 feet tall. Like the other suspect, the second male was described as wearing a black hoodie, black face mask and dark pants or shorts. Unlike the first suspect, the second was allegedly armed with a pocket knife.
Hayes says both men were described as possibly being Hispanic.
The victim was not injured. Hayes says the suspects fled south towards the 1100 block of Whittier.
Officers canvassed the immediate area and, as of 10 am, had not found any video or witnesses.
