Emporia Fire and Kansas Gas handled a small gas leak about 1.5 blocks from Walnut Elementary on Tuesday.
Fire crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of Lawrence around 11:30 am. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says an underground utilities crew was installing fiber optic cable when it struck a small service line outside a house.
Kansas Gas handled repairs. No injuries were reported and no evacuations were needed.
