High schools across the state of Kansas began fall practices this week, including Emporia High School. Spartans football opened up fall practices for the first time under new head coach and EHS Alum Daniel Goodman who looks to turn around the Spartans, who went 0-9 last season. Goodman says that practice this week is off to a good start.
Goodman says that positivity and energy are two keys to the program’s success and that a focus so far has been laying a foundation for the Spartans football program based on core values that surround the program.
Brody Telfur is a senior linebacker and running back who is expected to play a major role for the Spartans this season. He says it’s nice to be back on the field and in pads.
Emporia opens the season when they host Pittsburg on Sept. 5.
