A bench warrant has been issued as a Lyon County child abuse case gets started.
Ernest Dornalo Emerson Rayton was supposed to have his first official court appearance Tuesday but failed to appear. Judge Doug Jones then issued a bench warrant for Rayton’s arrest and also approved forfeiture of Rayton’s bond, which is set at $25,000.
Rayton is accused of choking a then-14-year-old as part of an alleged incident in November 2024. The child abuse count has two alternate counts, both listed as aggravated battery.
Separately, a preliminary hearing is coming next month in an aggravated burglary case.
Lyon County Judge Doug Jones continued a preliminary hearing until Sept. 10 in the case against Freddy Sanchez. Defense attorney Rand Simmons was recently appointed and unavailable for the scheduled hearing.
Sanchez is accused of aggravated residential burglary and theft after an alleged incident in September 2024.
