The Emporia High School volleyball team opened up the season on Saturday with the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League preseason tournament in Hutchinson, and EHS went 3-2 in the tournament to start the season.
The Lady Spartans dropped the first match to Maize 2-1 (25-22, 22-25, 16-25) before coming back to win the next two matches over Newton 2-0 (25-19, 25-14 ) and Valley Center 25-15, 25-21)
Emporia fell to Andover Central 2-0 (18-25, 23-25) before wrapping up the tournament with a victory over McPherson 2-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-21) EHS will travel to Topeka High on Thursday.
