A flood warning begins at 10 pm for the Cottonwood River at Florence and is set to last until 9:30 pm. The river was just under 16 feet at 1:15 pm and should crest at 23.2 feet early Monday, above flood stage of 22 feet. It should go below flood stage before noon Monday.
Temperatures will also run cooler than normal, both for the rest of the Labor Day weekend and for the rest of the week. Highs will be in the 70s all week, well below the mid-to-upper 80s that is the norm for late August and early September.
