An investigation continues into a destructive house fire between Emporia and Plymouth from Sunday.
Fire had already destroyed a home at 1869 Road B-5 by the time a passerby reported the fire just before 6:45 am Sunday. Firefighters from Emporia, Americus and Dunlap got the main fire out within about 45 minutes and then monitored the site for several hours as the investigation got started. Lyon County deputies helped, while Olpe Fire was initially called but was canceled en route.
There is currently no word on an origination point or a cause.
No injuries were reported. The fire extended to at least one nearby tree but not to any nearby structures.
Lyon County records have the home owned by the LT Carr Jr Family Trust.
