The Lyon County Attorney’s Office is moving forward with criminal charges against two juveniles after an alleged attempted aggravated robbery incident last month.
County Attorney Amy Aranda says Cristian Cervantes and Zuriel Trujillo have been charged with attempted aggravated robbery and will have detention hearings at 2:30 pm Tuesday.
Cervantes and Trujillo, both 14, were arrested after an alleged incident Aug. 17. A man reported being approached by two males, one armed with a gun and another possibly with a knife, as he left a convenience store in the 1100 block of East 12th.
Separately, the juvenile allegedly involved in a street racing incident leading to an injury crash last month continues moving through the court process. Fernando Rodriguez-Williams is set for a hearing Sept. 30 on two counts of aggravated battery.
According to Emporia Police, Rodriguez-Williams and 31-year-old Patricio Morales were allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed in the 300 block of East Sixth when Morales’ car broadsided another car driven by Ahmad Scott of Emporia. Scott and a passenger, Malik Dorsey were taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries.
