Another candidate is in the field for Kansas governor.
Businessman Philip Sarnecki, a Republican, announced his run for governor Tuesday. Sarnecki founded the wealth management company RPS Financial Group, is a franchise owner of Strickland Brothers quick lubes in several Kansas locations and is also part owner of the 513 Films movie production company.
Sarnecki says he plans to “stand with President Trump” to create good-paying jobs for working families, lower taxes, restore parental rights in education and to reduce red tape.
The Republican field includes former governor and lieutenant governor Jeff Colyer, Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson, current Secretary of State Scott Schwab, current Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, as well as talk show host Doug Billings and data analyst Joy Eakins. Democrats in the race include Kansas Senators Ethan Corson and Cindy Holscher.
Democrat Laura Kelly is into her second term and cannot run for a third.
