Now that the Emporia State football season has started, so has fundraising through Chest Bumps for Charity.
Chest Bumps is benefiting Bloom House Youth Services this year. Bloom House Director Carolee Conway is grateful for the revenue stream and says the entity is busy serving runaway youths and their families.
Conway says proceeds will help with ongoing work to replace the Bloom House fire suppression system.
Chest Bumps organizer Tagan Trahoon says Bloom House was a natural fit for several reasons, including connections with past director Clara Corn and her husband, Joe.
And Trahoon says the Bloom House mission — “providing a safe space to kids who don’t think they have one” — is worth celebrating and supporting.
The concept is simple. When ESU scores a touchdown, you donate an amount per touchdown, either for a given game or for the whole season. Following Emporia State’s 27-7 win over Minot State last week, over $150 is already pledged or collected.
More information at Chest Bumps is available on the Chest Bumps for Charity Facebook page or by calling Trahoon at KVOE, 620-342-1400.
The season-long fundraiser comes as Bloom House has several community events on the schedule this month, including a drag bingo event through Union Street Social on Sept. 8 and the Art Attack on Sept. 26-28. More information about Bloom House is available on its Facebook page, as well as online at bloomhouseks.org.
