Details are pending after an arrest early Thursday in an attempted arson case.
Emporia Police officers arrested 40-year-old David Anderson of Emporia on suspicion of attempted aggravated arson, drug activity, battery, criminal restraint and criminal threat. Officers continue their investigation at this time. Formal charges are pending.
Two other alleged arson cases from earlier this summer in Emporia are at different stages of the legal process. Mitchell Lindsey is set for potential trial start dates of Sept. 29, Oct. 14 or Nov. 3 after allegedly setting a small fire at College Apartments, 132 West 12th, on July 17. Uriel Sevilla has been deemed tentatively not competent to stand trial after allegedly setting a fire inside 10 West Grill + Dive Bar the following night; he is currently undergoing a 90-day evaluation with an update to District Court determining whether that case can proceed.
