In an opening week Lyon County League matchup between traditional powers, saw Madison come away victorious 51-20 over Lebo.
Madison went three and out on their first possession but had a goal line stand against Lebo’s first drive of the game.
Madison would cap off the ensuing 79 yard drive with a 17 yard touchdown pass from Brayden Grimmett to Cruz Leiser with under 30 seconds left to play in the first quarter.
Nate Treichgraeber, Madison’s head coach, called that sequence in the first quarter the difference in the ballgame.
Leiser would continue to be the workhorse in the first half, adding two more scores to help Madison to a 19-6 halftime lead.
The rushing attack of Madison would continue to be the focus in the third quarter as Leiser would add another rushing score and Grimmett would add a score on the ground as well.
Heading into the 4th quarter with a 35-6 lead, Lebo would not go down quietly. Lebo would find the endzone to make it 35-14 with 10:55 to go in the 4th quarter following a Jaxon Grimmett five yard rush.
However the rushing attack of Leiser would prove to be too powerful, as he would add two more scores in the fourth before Lebo scored in the closing moments to bring the score to a final of 51-20.
Lieser finished with 33 carries for 173 yards and five rushing touchdowns, while adding four receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Lebo was led in rushing by Jaxon Grimmett with 128 yards and one score on the ground.
Madison will travel to Hartford for next week’s Area Game of the Week on Mix 104.9.
