The Emporia State volleyball team couldn’t capitalize on a 2-1 lead and fell in five sets 25-18, 17-25, 26-28, 25-22, 15-12 to Cal State-San Bernardino at the San Diego Invite on Friday. ESU picked up the second set by blowing open a 12-all tie with a 10-2 run. The Lady Hornets couldn’t take the win in the fourth set after winning a marathon third. ESU had leads of 6-3 and 8-7 in the fifth but couldn’t hold off the Coyotes. Nyia Anderson led the Lady Hornets with 14 kills as ESU swapped to a 5-1 offense with Brailee Bogle handling all of the setting duties. Boglarka Rady had 16 digs to pace the defense. ESU (0-2) wraps up their west coast trip with Northwest Nazarene Saturday.
