Blue-green algae warnings continue for two Emporia and two Melvern-area lakes.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment still has Emporia State’s King Lake and the city’s Peter Pan Park pond in warnings, and the same holds true for Melvern Outlet River Pond and Swim Pond. ESU’s Wooster Lake was downgraded from a warning to a watch in Friday’s update.
Blue-green algae is harmful to humans and potentially fatal to pets or livestock. More information about algae health concerns, algae reporting procedures, algae health tips and other information including an interactive map is online at kdhe.ks.gov/hab.
