Local law enforcement is seeking public assistance in locating an individual who allegedly fled a traffic stop this weekend.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement began a pursuit of a motorcycle, possibly a Harley Davidson, around 7:55 pm Saturday after the rider allegedly fled a traffic stop. The rider fled southbound on Kansas Highway 99 and was pursued by deputies until the chase had to be called off for safety concerns once it reached the Emporia city limits.
The motorcycle was last seen traveling southbound on State Street Saturday. Officers are seeking any information as to the whereabouts or identity of the motorcycle’s owner. A suspect description is not available; however, the individual was seen wearing a white helmet at the time of the incident.
