Emporia football looks to end a 20 game losing streak on Friday when they travel to Wichita to face Wichita West at Southeast High School. Both teams come in at 0-1 but the Spartans have a lot of confidence after giving Pittsburg a battle at Welch Stadium, falling 24-14.
Rylan Crowell is coming off a monster game for Emporia, rushing for a touchdown and finishing with 175 yards on 22 carries. He added 11 tackles for the Spartans and interception for a touchdown, but he says the focus this week is solely on Wichita West and getting the win.
Head Coach Daniel Goodman says that going to Wichita West provides a challenge, but feels his team has a great chance if they limit mistakes against the Pioneers.
Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7 on KVOE.
