After a special meeting early this month, the Regional Development Association Board of Directors had been set for its regular board meeting Friday. That is no longer the case.
RDA Executive Assistant Robin Emley says Interim President Lyle Butler and Board President Jeff Williams are both on vacation and there “weren’t any urgent items” to discuss, so Friday’s meeting was canceled. The next board meeting is tentatively set for Oct. 10.
The meeting cancellation comes as the RDA’s permanent president position remains unfilled now for over 18 months after the resignation of Chuck Scott in early 2024. After a reconfiguration of the board this past spring as strongly requested by the Emporia City Commission, the RDA has been discussing possible president qualities.
