Emporia State volleyball resumed their season at the Washburn Invitational and opened up action Friday morning with a non-conference match against conference foe Newman, sweeping the Jets 25-10, 25-23, 25-17. The Lady Hornet offense was humming as they outhit the Navy & Red .420 to .153. ESU moved back to a 6-2 offense with Delainee Dexter tallying 18 assists with Brailee Bogle notching 17. Nyia Anderson led ESU with 10 kills while Mia Frisbie controlled the net with three total blocks.
Later in the afternoon, the Lady Hornets turned in another workmanlike performance with a straight-set victory against Truman State 25-21, 25-15, 25-18 two wrap up a 2-0 day. ESU overwhelmed their opponent again, outhitting the Bulldogs .322 to .133 in the match with Mia Frisbie leading the way with nine kills. ESU blew open the second set with a 15-3 run before taking control of the third set with a 12-3 run. E-State (3-2) returns to action with two more matches at the event beginning Saturday morning with an 8:00 a.m. start against MSU-Moorhead.
