Emporia football snapped a 20-game losing skid dating back to 2022 in a dominant 52-6 win over Wichita West at Southeast High School. The win is the first for Daniel Goodman as head coach of the Spartans. Emporia started off well, taking an 8-0 lead at the end of the first with a Rylan Crowell rushing touchdown from 29 yards out. Emporia added another with this rushing touchdown from Micah Gray.
Chance Duncan added a rushing touchdown in the 2nd quarter and Rylan Crowell scored again, all two point conversions were good to make it 24-0 Emporia at halftime.
The Spartans defense stifled Wichita West’s offense all night and Emporia’s running game continued to dominate as Rylan Crowell scored his 3rd rushing score of the game, Ben Collins found the endzone later and Oliver Klein finished the game with a pick six, racing 102 yards for the touchdown to make it 52-6 the final. Crowell finished with 126 yards on 22 carries in the win. Emporia improves to 1-1 and travel to Coffeyville next Friday night on KVOE.
