The Emporia State Soccer team scored the last three goals of the match to go 2-0 in their first homestand of the year beating Northern State 3-1 on Sunday at the ESU Soccer Pitch. The Wolves scored first but ESU got the equalizer just moments later from Megan Jeremias on a Megan Kephart assist. Abby Bachman broke a 1-all halftime tie scoring less than two minutes into the second half. Peyton Pipes picked up her second goal of the year on a feed from Kephart and Aubrey Seltman to add insurance later in the frame. The Lady Hornets lived on Northern State’s side of the field on the way to outshooting the Wolves 17-4 in the game including 12-3 in shots on goal. Bachman said the team started slow but recovered quickly.
Head coach Jane Grimley Gunn said getting a 2-0 weekend was a big focus for the team.
