Hearing dates are pending in a significant drug distribution case now into Lyon County District Court.
Miguel Ayala Ruiz is formally charged with distributing between 450 grams and 30 kilograms of marijuana within 1,000 feet of Sacred Heart Elementary as part of an alleged incident in late July 2024. Emporia Police officers say Ayala Ruiz had almost 11 pounds, or nearly 5 kilograms, of marijuana in his possession.
Prosecutors have requested a delay to get discovery from defense attorneys and to subpoena witnesses as the case moves forward.
