Plans are fully underway for the 2025 general election.
Lyon County Clerk Amie Jones says ballots have been compiled and equipment is being tested.
This is early work ahead of the general election Nov. 4 and also important deadlines, including the end of voter registration Oct. 14 and the start of advance voting Oct. 15. Speaking of advance voting, Jones says the offsite voting event Oct. 18 is changing location.
With local elections the focus this year, Jones says the offsite voting period will be shorter than it has been for other elections, notably those involving races for governor and president.
Residents who have been using Emporia’s First Christian Church to vote now will vote at the National Guard Armory.
Jones will join KVOE’s Morning Show on Mondays in October and November to discuss different aspects of the election. Residents can also get more information about their registrations, including polling place and sample ballot, online through the Kansas Secretary of State’s Voter View program.
