Less than 24 hours after announcing a massive gift for the Flint Hills Technical College’s Advancing Tomorrow capital campaign, another venture from the the college is getting a sizeable gift.
The Patterson Family Foundation is giving over $111,000 in grant funds for the college’s new Mobile Dental Unit program. The mobile facility will bring dental care straight to “dental deserts” in places like Chase County, which currently has no practicing dental providers. Another goal is to give Dental Hygiene students real-world clinical experience.
The plan is to start operating the Mobile Dental Unit program next fall.
Tuesday’s announcement follows the $500,000 gift from Simmons Pet Food for the $17 million Advancing Tomorrow campaign announced this past spring.
