Reimbursement funding is available for Lyon and most surrounding counties after flooding and severe weather damage back in early June, but projects aren’t guaranteed yet.
That’s the word from Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell on KVOE’s Morning Show this week.
Fell says Lyon County went over its $151,000 base threshold for work after flooding June 3-7. Kansas also went over its $5.1 million threshold, which triggered Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s request for emergency aid.
Fell says most of the county’s repairs have taken place. Most of the gravel roads in central Lyon County, including areas around Emporia, Hartford and Neosho Rapids, were under water due to 6-plus inches of rain.
President Trump approved $5.7 million in relief dollars for 16 counties last week. Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris and Osage counties were included.
